They say everything’s bigger in Texas, and that definitely holds true for Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium, home of the Texas Longhorns and one of the largest stadiums in college football. Since its inaugural Longhorn football game on November 8, 1924, DKR Stadium has grown into a state-of-the-art facility with a capacity of over 100,000!
Each fall, DKR Stadium is filled with thousands of spectators for game day, but the best way to truly appreciate the vastness and history of the stadium is to see it up close and personal. With an interactive tour guided by dedicated Texas Athletics staff members, you can!
Offered throughout the year, the tour takes guests through the most recognizable and memorable aspects of DKR Stadium. Longhorn fans young and old have the chance to experience the allure of the stadium from the mezzanine level, take a step into the Longhorn’s game day press box and walk through the storied tunnel onto Joe Jamail Field, just like a Texas Football player on game day.
In addition to stops that are essential to the the true Longhorn experience, fans will get a bit of history as they take a step through time touring the H.J. Lutcher Stark Center for Physical Culture and Sports, which holds the world’s largest Physical Culture Collection.
Guests also make a stop at the Mike Campbell-Bobby Moses, Jr., Football Trophy Room, which highlights the decorated past of Texas Football. Located on the second floor of the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletic Center between the coaches’ offices and the players’ lounge, the football trophy room is a tribute to Longhorn Football past and present. It is the home to some of the most iconic Texas Football trophies, including national and conference championships, bowl wins and prestigious players’ recognition which includes the Heisman trophies won by Earl Campbell and Ricky Williams.
