#ErwinCenter40: It was Magic

Frank Erwin Center Staff Share Their Favorite Events

Can you think back to a day at your job that you would refer to as magical? We’re lucky enough to get some days like that. When does that magic happen? When we get to witness people coming together for an amazing entertainment experience. It’s even better when we realize we are witnessing history.

After 40 years of concerts, family shows, sporting events and special events, it’s safe to say we’ve built a lot of amazing memories around this place, with more to come. We asked some of our staff to share their fondest memories.

What’s your favorite event you’ve attended since you started working at the Frank Erwin Center?

“This is like asking someone to pick their favorite child. I’ll have to pick the visit from the Dalai Lama. We’ve had many heads of state visit, but that was something else.”

“I’ve gotta say Sir Paul. It was magic. A sold out crowd singing ‘Hey Jude’ was pretty cool. But it’s a close call. Shaking hands with the Dalai Lama and Bill Clinton was pretty cool, too.”

“The Dalai Lama. Hands down. But, if i’m picking a basketball game the 1990 Arkansas game. It was so loud and there was a lot of excitement toward the end of the game. If we had won that game we’d have lost the building.”
