The Frank Erwin Center co-hosted the Event & Arena Marketing Conference June 12–15 here in Austin. Founded in 1980, the EAMC is an annual conference that brings together venue marketers, live entertainment promoters and other industry professionals from all over the nation to share their ideas, expertise and discuss what is going on in the live entertainment industry.

Throughout the seminars and workshops, we gained valuable insight into the different aspects of venue marketing including group sales, publicity, promotions and advertising. We also had the opportunity to meet representatives from some of our favorite touring shows including WWE, VEE Corporation who produces Sesame Street Live and Feld Entertainment®, who produces Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Circus and Disney Live! For me, meeting and conversing with other venue marketers and learning from industry veterans such as Louis Messina was the highlight of my experience.

But it wasn’t all just workshops and discussions. We had to make some time for our guests to enjoy what Austin has to offer and show them a little southern hospitality. With the help of the Cedar Park Center, we planned an opening presentation for the attendees which included information about hot spots in the city for eating, shopping and sightseeing. On Friday evening, we held a reception here at the Frank Erwin Center that included dinner, live music from T Bird and the Breaks and DJ Protege, tours of the building and of course photo ops with Hook’em and Da Bull!

Co-hosting and helping plan this event was another memory for the books. We received great feedback from our guests who were still raving about our event the following Monday. I am so grateful to have been a part of the planning process, and am so proud to be on such a hard working team here at the Frank Erwin Center. I think it’s safe to say we showed our guests an awesome time during their stay in the live music capital of the world!
