As the publicist at the Frank Erwin Center, I’ve had my fair share of interesting experiences on the job. From picking up the Ringling Bros. circus clowns at a train station at 4 a.m. to driving around town with WWE Superstars – my job duties range from literally one end of the spectrum to the other.
When WWE rolls into town, I am responsible for setting up in-studios, interviews and appearances the morning of the show. This past Tuesday, Dec. 17, WWE taped a special edition of Monday Night RAW at the Frank Erwin Center at 7 p.m. However, some of the Superstars began working early that morning for what we call “media day.” At 8:15 a.m. our intern and I drove from the Frank Erwin Center to the hotel to meet up with WWE’s The Shield and the WWE promoter. From there, we all went to FOX 7 studios for the 9:45 a.m. interview…which went very well and was quite entertaining! Afterwards, we headed to the Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center to visit some very special children. This is my favorite part of media day. The children are always so delighted to have visitors and to witness their faces light up when they see the Superstars is truly heartwarming. After that, we drove to the Fiesta Supermarket for a meet and greet sponsored by Univision radio. The large crowd of fans waited patiently to get their autographs and take pictures with The Shield. When the meet and greet finished, we took a quick picture and parted ways. The Shield went back to the hotel to rest before the show and I headed back to work. Here’s a behind-the-scenes video of what the day looked like!
