Football season means a lot of things to many different people. To some, football season means tailgating with friends and family and enjoying good food and drinks every Saturday. To the Frank Erwin Center (ERC) event management staff, football season means planning and preparing for Texas Football games at DKR – Texas Memorial Stadium.

How many times have you walked into DKR – Texas Memorial Stadium for a football game and thought about how many ushers and security staff it takes to handle a game, or what it takes to coordinate a game from an operations viewpoint? Well, here are your answers, by the numbers:

3 – Number of event managers at ERC. All of them work every home football game.

8 – Average number of hours per shift for football stadium ushers, ticket takers and security staff. Also the average number of pounds lost per game per each event manager during the first two games of the season.

10 – Average number of miles event managers walk per game. Also the number of hours it takes to compile payroll per game.

13 – Average number of hours each event manager works on a game day.

14 – Average number of hours it takes to compile usher, ticket taker and security assignments.

34 – Total number of accumulated years current event management staff has worked at DKR – Texas Memorial Stadium.

44 – The most number of years worked by any current usher.

60 – Average number of hours it took the event management staff to prep for each of the first two games.

108 – Average temperature on the field when gates opened during the first two games of the season.

1,000 – Total number of football stadium ushers, ticket takers and security staff. (not including concessions, maintenance, facilities, law enforcement, EMS, etc.)

101,000 – Average attendance per football game.

The ERC event management staff also coordinates the Texas Men’s and Women’s Basketball games… but that’s another post we’ll share later.

I have worked as a ticket checker/usher for every UT Home Football game for the last 4 years through Staff Force. Please tell me when the Opening Pep Rally is for this year 2017? Or direct me to the site to obtain this information. I am no longer connected with StAff Force and would like to be on your staff. Sincerely,
    Richard G. Vigil
