The Harlem Globetrotters’ Sweet Lou II Brings Smiles to St. David’s Children’s Hospital and More
The Original Harlem Globetrotters all-new Pushing the Limits World Tour is more than a basketball game. It is more than a show. It is the one and only Harlem Globetrotters in an all-new, larger-than-life world tour that will have the audience on their feet, out of their seats, laughing until it hurts and loving every moment! The Globetrotters are creating lasting memories in Austin one smile and ball trick at a time, even before their Feb. 27 & 28 stop at the Erwin Center.
Harlem Globetrotter Sweet Lou II brought smiles to the kids and staff of St. David’s Children’s Hospital today. The visit was part of Smile Patrol™, an outreach program designed by the Globetrotters to spread joy and create lifetime memories for these very special fans. Sweet Lou showed off his signature Globetrotter ball handling skills and tricks, posed for pictures and lifted spirits of patients and staff.
Sweet Lou II also paid a visit to Mills Elementary School, where he spoke to students about the Globetrotters’ “T.E.A.M. UP AT SCHOOL” program, which was designed in coordination with the National Campaign to Stop Violence (NCSV) in order to provide students with bullying solutions through the acronym T.E.A.M. – Talk, Empathize, Ask and Mobilize. Sweet Lou II incorporated his signature ball-handling skills to create a fun and informative presentation.
Sweet Lou II wrapped up the day with a stop at the Texas Men’s Basketball game vs. TCU. During a break in the game, a few kids in attendance had the chance to meet Sweet Lou, practice a new trick and show off their dunking abilities.
